As a librarian, I have always believed that one of the innumerable benefits of reading is to develop empathy and social awareness. The following 10 titles, a mix of history, social science, and memoir, offer facts and reflections on systemic racial injustice as well as ways to channel feeling into action. And while this list is by no means exhaustive, it is a place to start to learn, to start conversations, and a place to grow.
